What licensing represents

Licensing is the formal authorization to present the Hotel of Choice™ designation in connection with a specific property, for a defined term, under strict usage and quality-control provisions. It is not a public directory listing, and it is not sold as advertising. The designation is granted only after evaluation against the Standard and is maintained through ongoing compliance.

Licensing Framework

A structured, selective process

Each licensing engagement follows a consistent sequence designed to protect the integrity of the designation and the discretion of participating properties.

1) Eligibility & discretion

Initial review confirms fit, category, and readiness. Consideration may be extended by invitation or initiated via private inquiry.

2) Documentation & evidence

Operational, design, and guest-experience evidence is requested to substantiate claims against the Standard (policies, service model, amenities, and residency program details).

3) Evaluation & scoring

A criteria-led assessment is conducted across the Standard’s domains, with clear thresholds and documented rationale for outcomes.

4) Licensing terms & usage

Approved properties receive a licensing agreement defining term, renewal, brand usage, quality control, and confidentiality provisions.

Quality Control

Standards-first. Always.

The designation is protected through ongoing quality control. Licensed properties are expected to maintain the service, design, and operational benchmarks that supported approval. Where material changes occur—ownership, management, renovation, or program shifts—re-evaluation may be required to preserve the integrity of the annual collection.

Licensing FAQs

A concise overview of common questions from owners, operators, and development teams.

Is the designation purchased?

No. Licensing follows evaluation and approval. Fees, where applicable, support administration, verification, and quality control—not advertising placement.

Who may request consideration?

Qualified luxury hotels and executive residences, including new developments with a defined opening timeline and complete operating plan.

How many properties are licensed each year?

A limited number. The annual collection is intentionally selective to preserve meaning and comparability.

What does “private inquiry” mean?

A discreet channel to request consideration without public promotion. Submissions are reviewed confidentially.

How is the mark used?

Usage is governed by the licensing agreement and brand guidelines, including approved contexts, typography, and placement.

What happens if standards change?

The Standard is refined periodically. Licensed properties are notified of updates and may be asked to provide evidence of continued alignment.

Request consideration—discreetly

If your property aligns with the Standard and seeks institutional designation, begin with a private inquiry. We respond to qualified submissions.
